Welcome to Mrs. Williams' Classroom Pages!

What I want to achieve:

My mission is to encourage my students. I will validate believing in themselves through my steadfast belief in each of them. Each time students withdraw from learning, I will demonstrate the  importance of learning for their future. I will support students being creative as well as rational in problem solving processes. I will assist students in character development, including responsibility, respect, and ethics.  I will prove to students that they have a support network, even if they do not always need it.---Mrs. Williams (Educator)

About My Classes:

I teach Communication Arts,  Fine Arts, and Reading.
  •  The Communication Arts course is designed to assist students in refining their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills, which are vital for every form of employment.  All students will have a job at some point, whether it is as a stay-at-home parent, a doctor, a food service clerk, or any other job they choose.  Therefore, it is essential to promote the importance of careers within the class.  The class will include formal and informal writing assignments focused primarily upon career preparation.  However, it will also blend in aspects of prose, poetry, and drama as time allows.  According to each student's level of ability, he or she will complete lessons indicating level of mastery for each objective.  The level of mastery for each objective will be determined through various assessment tools, such as formal and informal presentations or discussions, written tests, and interviews.
  •  The Fine Arts course is designed to assist students in furthering their knowledge and abilities in the various fine arts.  Students will develop skills and strategies to evaluate, interpret, and create forms of fine art including paintings, photography, sculpture, prose, poetry, drama, and music.  Dance will also be studied if time allows.  Assessments will include formal and informal evaluations, such as performances, presentations, evaluations of art projects, and written tests or essays.
  •  The Reading course is designed to assist students who struggle with reading to improve reading skills, such as reading comprehension and word identification.  Students will develop skills and strategies to improve their reading abilities through working with a variety of literature, including short story, drama, and poetry.  Students complete whole class, small group, and individual assignments.
